This very rare Public Notice was printed by Powell Press Printers ( 22 Parliament Street) and is dated for allowances due on Tuesday 9th May, 1916 but may have been posted earlier.This reproduction is slightly enlarged from the original (340mm x 218mm).
The text states "Dependants Separation Allowances due on Tuesday the 9th May, 1916, Owing to the destruction of certain documents, the allowances due on Tuesday 9th May to dependants of men serving in the Royal Dublin Fusiliers, Royal Inniskilling Fusiliers, Royal Irish Fusiliers, Royal Irish Rifles, North Irishh Horse cannot be paid until the following week. If assistance is urgently required in the meantime, small loans can be obtained from the Soldiers and Sailors Families Association at Brunswick Street Free Library on Wednesday May 10th from 10am". The poster highlights the impact of the Easter Rising on the many dependents whose family members were soldiers fighting in Europe.
This Limited Edition comes with a numbered certificate from The Walton Collection. The reproduction has been printed on 260 GSM water colour paper and is mounted behind glass on a 'Pine Green suede' mounting board which is set in a fine handmade Gold Leaf frame.
