A beautiful poster with the words of Pearse's farewell letter to his mother written on the morning of his execution. Pearse exhorts his mother not to grieve for his passing and to see it as a sacrifice for them both which has been asked for by God. He ends the letter with his moving poem A Mother Speaks...

Dear Mary who didn't see her first born son
Go forth to die, amid the scorn of men
For whom He died, receive my first born son
Into thy arms, who also had gone forth to die for men.
O keep him by thee until I come to him!
Dear Mary, I have shared thy sorrow and soon shall share thy joy!
