County Mayo - Townland Survey of the County of Mayo(1839) - A stunning Ordnance Survey Map of County Mayo first published in 1839, on a globally unprecedented scale of six inches to one mile, stretches from Killary Harbour along the entire rugged coastline to Killala Bay and back along the borders with the counties of Sligo, Roscommon and Galway. The mountains, rivers and many lakes and their island, including Lough Conn and Mask are strikingly detailed. As are the many offshore islands including Achill, Inis Turk, Inis Boffin, Clare Island and the hundreds of islands in Clew Bay . There is remarkable detail from within all of the parishes in the areas of Clanmorris , Kilmaine, Murrisk, Gallen ,Costello, Burreshoole, Carra, Erris ,and Tirawley.

This extraordinary map is made up of 123 numbered grid boxes which are indexed in a table on the map , any one or more of which can reproduced in their original full size or can be customised into an smaller framed extract from the map as a special order in consultation with our customisation team.
