A charming view of The Old Weir Bridge (c.1840) by William H. Bartlett  which according to Bartlett is a "Dangerous spot, and many accidents have occurred in shooting the rapid. It is an ancient twin arch bridge made of stone.

The bridge is situated at the spot known as the "Meeting of the Waters", where the three Killarney lakes meet. The waters from the Upper Lake flow into the Middle (or Muckross Lake) and Lough Leane. The actual age of the bridge is unclear, but believed to date back to the sixteenth century. A 1780 Fisher print of the bridge shows it already had fallen into a state of disrepair by the late 1700s and remained so for at least the next 100 years. The bridge became a popular trip for tourists who used the swift current to propel narrow boats down the inlet (see close-up detail inset below) and is still popular with canoeists to this day. The bridge survived the devastating floods of September 1867, when local houses, including Dinis Cottage, and other wooden structures were washed away.

Please note the Pine Green mount board is not as quite dark as it appears in the frame image and the colour of the final print is closer to the detail sample from the picture inset below.

A beautifully framed reproduction set behind glass with a choice of a pale palm green or pine green suede inner surrounds with a choice of two fine antique style wooden frames; gold leaf or gold and mahogony gold leaf. Prints are available in A3, A2 and A1 sizes with proportionately larger frames to suit all decor and wall space.

To see which one you prefer simply select the frame type choice below and it will appear in the larger picture above.
