An Saorstát - The Free State - Michael Collins Memorial Number, No. 28 Vol.2 (First Edition) Dublin Tuesday, August 29, 1922 Page 7 Limited Edition (250).

"THE DEAD LEADER - With the Heroes of All Time" by Mary Frances McHugh (McHugh, daughter of playwright Martin Francis McHugh was a writer and poet who went on to write some notable books including Thalassa: A Story of Childhood by the Western Wave in 1931), is a deeply moving piece on Collin's relationship with Ireland and his desire and actions to serve her.

"AS OUTSIDERS SAW HIM - The Magic of Collins all over the World" by Ignatius Phayre is notable. Ignatius Phayre is a pseudonym for William George FitzGerald, journalist and novelist, and uncle to Taoiseach Garret Fitzgerald, who travelled the world to report on the political affairs and peoples of diverse nations. He delivered informed and insightful eyewitness accounts, earning him the trust of editors and readers across the political spectrum. He became well known in later life during the mid-1930s for his series of glowing articles about a visit to the home Haus Wachenfeld of his “personal friend” Adolf Hitler, although there are some questions as to whether he was actually a guest of Hitler). The tribute quotes Lloyd George on Collins.. "He was a fearless soldier, a leader of great energy and devotion... a man of remarkable personal charm..."

The page also contains a photo of Collins: "Driving home his arguments at the great Meeting in Cork", and "FOUR GENERATIONS" and another including his Mother, Mary Anne Collins; Sister, Mrs Pat Powell, and child Norah; and Grandmother, Mrs O'Brien (circa 1905).

Each of the pages from this fabulous 250 limited edition broadsheet is reproduced on 210 gsm Satin art paper, set behind glass, and tastefully framed on mottled green pine suede backing in a fine antique style Gold Leaf frame. This remarkable tribute is a beautiful collectors item for historians and admirers of Michael Collins.
